In the United States, bocce is mostly played in the eastern and southwestern parts of the country. The style played is mostly raffa, in fact, open, which is a very simplified raffa system. Volo bocce is played rarely, and in many states doesn’t exist at all.

The United States Bocce Federation (USBF) has been founded in 1976 and is a member of the World Bocce Federation (FIB). It is organized in three sectors based on geographical regions: Western Sector, Midwestern Sector, and Eastern Sector. A system of competition exists at many levels, including the US Championships. Bocce sport is most popular in California where a large number of people play bocce.
